Position: Youth Pastoral Resident
Ministry Purpose: This position is designed to grow and develop the Pastoral Resident as a minister of the Gospel. This person will work with the Lead Pastor of Youth to clearly identify and solidify a specific long-term call (church planting, church revitalization, foreign mission, etc.). In addition, this person will assist other ministries in executing Turning Point Community Church’s mission.
Reports to: Youth Pastor
Status: Part Time, non- exempt
Workdays/Hours: 15 hours per week; Sunday - Thursday schedule with occasional weekend responsibilities.
Term: September through July (renewable only by approval)

- Be a presence in the community and local schools by attending youth members games/events as requested by the Youth Pastor.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Youth Pastor in facilitating the spiritual growth of our youth by:
- Working with parents to assist in making their homes places of effective discipleship.
- Providing mentor relationship as appropriate.
- Working with mentors/small group leaders to help them disciple the youth in their care.
- Potentially, though not necessarily, serving as the mentor to 1-2 youth who project to finish high school before the expected end of the residency.
- Striving to ensure every student is challenged to step up to the task of finding their own faith and understanding a personal relationship with their creator.
- Pro-actively sets daily/weekly/monthly responsibilities that will help develop skills needed in the call to ministry.
- Working with Lead Pastor of Youth in any capacity requested to further the ministry and growth. For example: leading small groups, teaching periodically and attending all youth functions.
- Setting up and tearing down of all youth ministry events as directed by the Youth Pastor.
- Helping our small groups become places of spiritual depth and intimacy by:
- Working with small group leaders to identify a clear and specific kingdom purpose for their group.
- Equipping small group leaders to shepherd their group in achieving that purpose.
- Working with small group leaders to identify and nurture potential future group leaders.
- Striving to ensure every youth leader feels supported, encouraged, and important to ministry purpose at TPCC
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma at minimum. Enrollment in college or residency program of some sort preferred.
- Experience: A year at least of working as a volunteer in some capacity with youth/children preferred.
- Miscellaneous: Ability to pass a background check and completion of sexual abuse awareness training.
Skills:
- Passion to influence the next generation for Christ.

- Discipleship small groups have become a known and valued way for experiencing community, spiritual growth, and mission.
- Ability to maintain good communication channels with leaders and volunteers, over-communicating.
