Job Title: Communications Director
FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt
Workdays/Hours: Minimum of 40+ hours per week.
Weekend Responsibilities: The Communications Director’s normal work week is Sunday through Thursday. However, this position is expected to attend all church-wide activities which may include Friday or Saturday.
Reports To: Senior Associate Pastor
Works Closely With: All ministries.
MINISTRY PURPOSE: This position is responsible for (i) overseeing and ensuring the quality and intentionality of all internal and external communications, including graphics, web, social media, print (ii) handle the external marketing of TPCC to the Lubbock community and internal marketing of TPCC’s many ministries and events to current TPCC members, (iii) working with ministry leaders to develop materials for ministry specific events and weekly gatherings.

Job Responsibilities:
Oversight of all External Communications and Promotions
- Maintain open and frequent communication with the leadership, staff, and volunteers of TPCC to define and articulate ministry priorities so that communication to TPCC’s internal and external audiences is clear and compelling.
- Oversee communications including print graphics, website management, and social media including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube, and Instagram, while maintaining consistency of branding across all formats.
Job Responsibilities con’t:
- In partnership with the Senior Associate Pastor, engage in the process of Strategic Calendaring, developing a prioritized calendar of all ministry activity that allows for effective internal and external communication.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Communication Plan, to include sharing ministry wins.
- Assist in the development of marketing plans and rules to manage the mass communications sent to the church body via print, email, and social media venues.
- Assist staff in communicating stories of life change to cast vision in conjunction with the appropriate Ministry Leader.
- Stay current on emerging trends in communications, ministry, marketing, technology, and design.
- Lead all efforts related to the creation, development, and/or revising of TPCC’s website, including coordinating webpage maintenance to ensure that new, consistent, and current information is posted and updated regularly.
- Manage website design, SEO, Google analytics, Google reviews etc.
- Manage all merch designs, pricing, ordering for various ministry needs.
- Work proactively to ensure TPCC maintains an effective presence on the web including style/preference, search engines, and new technology.
- Develop systems to organize, prioritize, and communicate promotional items related to TPCC.
- Create communication strategies to market, inform, and promote teaching series, special events, community outreach events, and other campaigns as assigned.
- Oversee and manage graphic design work that is produced by paid staff, independent contractors, or volunteers.
- Manage the creation and consistency of internal and external signage.
- Develop ministry partnerships with external vendors that share TPCC’s commitment to excellence.
- Create policies and style guides related to the branding of TPCC.
- Responsible for the development, oversight, and management of the Communications budget.
- Develop a robust understanding of the external target audience TPCC is best positioned to reach and the implications for how TPCC communicates across all channels.
- In the areas of Communications, accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic
Design, Journalism, or related field strongly preferred.
Experience: Three years of related work experience providing support in the development, design, and production of various communications components to include the supervision of others or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills: Ability to generate and implement new, creative ideas in alignment with TPCC’s mission, vision, and values. Ability to organize and initiate work with minimal supervision. Exceptional and professional verbal, written, electronic, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and adapt production timelines to changing conditions. Ability to establish and maintain positive internal and external working relationships. Exceptional degree of discernment, judgement, critical thinking, and problem solving as well as the ability to always maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
Physical Requirements: Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping. Mobility to move from one office area to another within the Church campus and to off-Campus locations. Medium lifting to 35 lbs. and light carrying up to 15 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulders, to extend arms and reach. Manual dexterity sufficient to type, operate general office equipment and to file. Specific visual acuities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
