One Thing to Keep

Right now if you walk into Wal-Mart you will see those huge plastic tubs front and center for a reason... it's time to put up Christmas. This morning here at the church we packaged and boxed and taped and stuffed all of our Christmas decor and stashed it away until next year.  But, there is one thing that I pray our church will keep handy as we 'put a bow' on Christmas and head into a new year.

I pray we keep our expectation for Jesus.

There is a special 'Christmas wonder' around the manger.  There is great anticipation and excitement in the news of a Savior that has left heaven and come to earth... for us.  As the angel declared in Luke 2, "I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people."  There is an endless outpouring of love from our Father in heaven that flows for all people. God's glory is all around us.  We see it in our past, and we can continue to expect it as we move forward.

When the disciples asked Jesus for a lesson in prayer Jesus encouraged them to pray that the Father's Kingdom would come and that His will be done here on earth as it is in heaven.  He encouraged them to live in a rhythm of continual expectation!

So - as a new season begins - I pray we will all keep our expectation handy.  Wake up with it, live in it as each new day comes in the new year.

God Bless, and God be praised!
